THE IDEA, LAYER BY LAYER.
SIMPLE.
Considered.
A rigid core, light padding and a fabric finish. The production sample will establish the final materials and measurements.
- 01
A fabric finish
A fabric finish is planned around the padded core. The cover material, construction and closure are still being finalized.
- 02
Thin cushioning
A thin layer softens the contact with the rigid core. Matt’s original prototype used a yoga mat.
- 03
A firm foundation
The original prototype used plywood. This is a flat, rigid design; it does not fold or roll.
Prototype details below. Final measurements and care instructions will follow the production sample.
- Prototype footprint
- 24 × 48 inches. Final covered dimensions will be measured on the production sample.
- Shown finish
- Charcoal fabric with a corner logo.
- Thickness
- The final core, padding and cover must be assembled and measured.
- Weight
- The completed production sample must be weighed. Shipping weight will include its protective packaging.
- Materials
- Original prototype: plywood and a yoga mat. Production core, padding and cover fabric are being selected.
- Cover & closure
- Cover construction is being finalized. Closure and removability depend on the production sample.
- Care
- Cleaning instructions will follow the selected fabric and construction. Machine washing is not confirmed.
YOUR SPACE.
Your fit.
Matt placed his prototype beneath the sheet on his side of the bed. Compare its 24 × 48-inch footprint with your furniture; final placement and support guidance will accompany the production specifications.

Keep it flat between uses.
The rigid mat cannot be rolled or folded. Matt stored his prototype between mattresses, beneath a couch or beneath couch cushions where it fit. Allow enough flat space for the entire mat; furniture compatibility varies.
BackMat has not been clinically tested. No medical benefit has been established. A firmer surface does not suit everyone.
